Abstract            : In this work, a novel generalized mathematical model of fractional-order memristor with fully explicit memory description has been proposed. For obtaining such full explicit memory description, the Atangana-Baleanu fractional derivative in Liouville-Caputo sense, which employs a nonsingular kernel, has been adopted as the mathematical basis. The proposed model has been derived without regarding to any specific conventional memristor. A comparison with the singular kernel fractional derivative-based model has been made. The behavioral analysis of the fractional-order memristor based on the proposed model has been performed, where both DC and AC stimuli have been considered. In addition, its application to the practical fractional-order memristor-based circuit and its extension to the fractional-order memreactance have also been shown. Unlike the singular kernel fractional derivative-based model, a fully explicit memory description can be obtained by ours. Many other interesting results that are contradict to the previous singular kernel fractional derivative-based ones, e.g., the fractional-order memristor that can be locally active, have been demonstrated. The abovementioned extension can be conveniently performed. In summary, this is the first time that a nonsingular kernel fractional derivative has been applied to the fractional-order memristor modeling and the resulting model with a fully explicit memory description has been proposed. The proposed model is also highly generic, applicable to the practical circuit, and extendable to the fractional-order memreactance.

 Abstract            :  Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) is a member of the Flaviviridae family and one of Asia’s most common causes of encephalitis. JEV is a zoonotic virus that is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes of the Culex species. While humans are dead-end hosts for the virus, domestic animals such as pigs and birds are amplification hosts. Although JEV naturally infected monkeys have been reported in Asia, the role of non-human primates (NHPs) in the JEV transmission cycle has not been intensively investigated. In this study, we demonstrated neutralizing antibodies against JEV in NHPs (Macaca fascicularis) and humans living in proximity in two provinces located in western and eastern Thailand by using Plaque Reduction Neutralization Test (PRNT). We found a 14.7% and 5.6% seropositive rate in monkeys and 43.7% and 45.2% seropositive rate in humans living in west and east Thailand, respectively. This study observed a higher seropositivity rate in the older age group in humans. The presence of JEV neutralizing antibodies in NHPs that live in proximity to humans shows the occurrence of natural JEV infection, suggesting the endemic transmission of this virus in NHPs. According to the One Health concept, regular serological studies should be conducted especially at the animal–human interface.

Abstract            :  The details of the facial nerve pattern were clearly explained in the parotid gland (PG), lateral area of the face, and periorbital areas to prevent the unexpected outcome of medical intervention. However, it remains unclear whether information about the zygomatico-buccal plexus (ZBP) in the masseteric and buccal regions. Therefore, this study aimed to help clinicians avoid this ZBP injury by predicting their common location. This study was conducted in forty-two hemifaces of twenty-nine embalmed cadavers by conventional dissection. The characteristics of the buccal branch (BB) and the ZBP were investigated in the mid-face region. The results presented that the BB gave 2-5 branches to emerge from the PG. According to the masseteric and buccal regions, the BB were arranged into ZBP in three patterns including an incomplete loop (11.9%), a single-loop (31.0%), and a multi-loop (57.1%). The mean distance and diameter of the medial line of the ZBP at the corner of the mouth level were 31.6 (6.7) and 1.5 (0.6) mm respectively, while at the alar base level were 22.5 (4.3) and 1.1 (0.6) mm respectively. Moreover, the angular nerve arose from the superior portion of the ZBP at the alar base level. The BB formed a multiloop mostly and showed a constant medial line of ZBP in an area approximately 30 mm lateral to the corner of the mouth, and 20 mm lateral to the alar base. Therefore, it is recommended that physicians should be very careful when performing facial rejuvenation in the mid-face region.

Abstract            :  Context: Lactic acid bacteria (LAB), which are found in many fermented foods, are known to produce antimicrobial compounds that play a vital role in food bio-preservation.

Aims: To screen, identify, characterize, and determine the secondary metabolites of LAB isolated from Thai fermented foods that are beneficial against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

Methods: The antimicrobial activity of cell free supernatant (CFS) was evaluated by agar well diffusion assay, and determining the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC). Bacterial strains were identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS), and chemical compound was conducted by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Additionally, microbial dynamic and bile salt tolerance were assessed.

Results: Seven of the 90 lactic acid isolates from Thai fermented foods, showed antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aureus in the 12.00–16.00 mm inhibitory zone. It was identified that the bacteria were Lactobacillus pentosusLactobacillus farciminisLactobacillus brevis, and Lactobacillus plantarum. The best antibacterial activity was represented by LBST1861 strain, which also provided bile salt resistance at 0.3% for 24 hours and had MIC and MBC values of 12.5 mg/mL and 50.0 mg/mL against S. aureus and E. coli, respectively. Furthermore, the GC-MS discovered a total of 16 chemical compounds that may be used to limit microbial growth and has a potential to be employed as a bio-preservative.

Conclusions: The most potent strain of LBST1861 strain against S. aureus and E. coli as L. plantarum, isolated from fermented foods in Thailand, generated significant bioactive chemicals that can be applied to promote food products.
