The research aimed to study essential professional competencies required of graduates from the Department of General Management, Faculty of Business Administration. This study was a qualitative research and used the grounded theory methodology. This methodology was a part of an alternative paradigm. Data were collected, using in-depth interview with semi-structured questions in the interview and non-participant observation. 15 key informants were from 3 groups: 1) entrepreneur 2) company’s administrators, and 3) graduated alumni. Data analysis based on in-depth interview indicated that professional competencies which were required of the graduates from the Department of General Management, Faculty of Business Administration, consisted of 1) knowledge directly relevant to the job, 2) observation skills, 3) efficient business planning, 4) ability to use the software program, 5) effective communication, and 6) honesty and ethics.
